"Vliegenthart" 8 Reales or Ducaton Saltwater Encrusted, 46.37gm. Salvaged from the Vliegenthart (sunk in 1735 off Zeeland, the Netherlands). Completely encrusted. It's possible this is a clump of two coins but this cataloger's best guess is one Crown-sized coin with a thick layer of encrustation surrounding it. Accompanied by a COA. The Vliegenhart (Flying Hart) was an East Indiaman ship which, upon hit by bad weather, sunk with it's crew off Rammekens. Contemporary efforts by the Dutch East India Company to salvage the cargo weren't fruitful, but provided a treasure map which was rediscovered in the 1970's. An intact chest with Mexican silver and Dutch gold was recovered in 1983, with other 2 smashed chests and smaller boxes (likely contraband) of "Ducatoons" discovered later.
