Bavaria. Maximilian III Josef gold Maximilian d'Or 1767 MS61 NGC, Munich mint, KM495, Fr-242. Lesser-seen "Madonna and Child" type, witnessed by this firm only once in the past and in a much lesser state of preservation. Impressive surviving luster flashes in the fields, bordering devices which evince more detail than characteristic for the issue. We note some significant adjustment marking to the reverse, though this furthers the piece's originality. A single example ranks higher on the NGC census.
