Willem III gold Proof 10 Gulden 1851 PR65+ Ultra Cameo NGC, Utrecht mint, cf. KM95 (unlisted in Proof), Fr-340, Schulman-546 (R). Mintage: 10,000. A rare two-year circulation type seldom witnessed in its Proof format and certainly not so fine. Similar to the previous lot, this type is also known as a Willem or Negotiepenning and is inscribed without a denomination but with weight and gold content on the reverse. Conditionally, one will be hard pressed to source a finer subject. Bold flash meets exquisite detail on the flan, Willem's frosted bust evincing very little evidence of handling with equally little chatter to the fields. The saturated nature of the goldenrod patina is visually enticing, partially earning NGC's plus accolade. This is the highest-graded specimen awarded an Ultra/Deep Cameo designation across NGC and PCGS, outranked numerically only by a PR66 Cameo present on the PCGS census. A perfect find to complete a type set. HID09801242017 © 2024 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
