Utrecht. Provincial gold 14 Gulden (Golden Rider) 1760 MS65 PCGS, KM104, Fr-288, Delm-970. Quite exceptional not just for the type but for the Utrecht 14 Gulden series in its entirety. This specimen touts nearly the finest grade assigned by either PCGS or NGC for an Utrecht 14 Gulden, just a single MS66 from 1761 ranking better at NGC. The coin is immaculate in hand, surprisingly not awarded a Prooflike designation for the watery mirrors wrapping the flan. Every intricacy is rendered and impossibly maintained, confirming the Gem certification. We note a similarly graded 14 Gulden from 1751 (same rarity) brought $30,000 all-in at our 2023 ANA sale, forecasting a strong premium for the piece at hand.
