Victoria gold 1/2 Sovereign 1881-S AU55 PCGS, Sydney mint, KM5, S-3862E. Variety with cross buried, round reverse denticles, and Arabic 1 for "I" in "REGINA." From the reported initial mintage of just 62,000, a minuscule handful have survived in any meaningful condition with the coin at hand being tied with just one for the penultimate grade and outranked by a single MS63 outlier at PCGS. Despite the noted marks from handling predominantly on the obverse, the conditionally rare selection at hand presents outstanding qualities and deserves advanced consideration from informed bidders. Privately purchased from Jaggard's in Sydney, Australia; accompanied by their flip. From the James D.
