EGYPT. Alexandria. Faustina Junior (AD 147-175/6). AE drachm (32mm, 11h). NGC VG Dated Regnal Year 12 (AD 148/9). ΦΑVCΤΙΝΑ CЄΒ ΘVΓ CЄΒ ЄVCЄΒ, draped bust of Faustina Junior left, seen from the front, hair waved and gathered in chignon at back of head / L ΔwΔЄΚΑΤΟV, Isis Pharia right, holding billowing sail, standing before the Pharos of Alexandria. RPC IV.4, 1129. Emmett 1989. The Pharos on this series is the Lighthouse of Alexandria, the last of the seven Wonders of the ancient world and one of the few Wonders depicted on contemporary coinage. The lighthouse was on the northwest coast of the Egyptian delta and took the name "Pharos" from the island in front of the harbor on which it was built.
