Napoleon silver "Vendome Column" Medal 1805-Dated MS62 NGC, Bramson-463, Julius-1480. 41mm. By Andrieu and Brenet. An uncommon issue in silver; the only example graded by NGC. The Vendôme Column began construction under Napoleon in 1806, completed in 1810. It was modeled after Trajan's Column to celebrate the victory of Austerlitz (The Battle of the Three Emperors), noted as one of the most important and decisive military engagements of the Napoleonic Wars. The reverse is accented with a lovely teal hue, beautifully enhancing the deep silver surfaces. HID09801242017 © 2024 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
