Salvaged from the "U.S.S Charleston" (sunk in 1899 off Camiguin Island, Philippines). The first steel-hulled ship lost by the US Navy, the U.S.S. Charleston was abandoned after hitting the Guinápac Rocks off the Philippines. This important ship sailed the pacific in the 1890's, participating also in the Spanish-American War.
