James I (1603-1625) gold Laurel ND (1619-20) AU50 NGC, Tower mint, Spur rowel mm, S-2637, N-2111 (R). 8.94gm. An attractive specimen, practically perfectly round tidy rims and great surfaces for the designated grade. This particular piece boasts an appreciably distinct image of the king's face, with gentle wear to his temple and the leafs in his laurel wreath. The reverse is downright lovely, with crispness of struck motifs extending from center all the way to edges, making this a tempting target for the advanced collector of British hammered gold.
