Taisho silver "Crown Prince Expedition" Medal T10 (1921) UNC Details (Rim Damage) NGC, Osaka mint. 61mm. By S. Nakano. Depicting the Crown Prince Hirohito (the later Emperor Showa) on the obverse with inscription above roughly translating to "In Commemoration of the Overseas Expedition of HRH the Crown Prince". The reverse features the battleship Katori with doves to either side, date above, and rendered over a globe design. From March 3rd until September 3rd 1921, Hirohito took a six-month tour of Europe aboard the Katori, visiting the United Kingdom, France, Italy, the Netherlands and Belgium, making him the first Japanese Crown Prince to travel abroad.
