Qing Dynasty. Xuan Zong (Dao Guang) Anhui Erqibao ("27 Ingots") Sycee of 50 Taels Year 19 (1839) Certified AU50(03) by Gong Bo Grading, cf. Cribb-Class X.B (for type). 124.3x77.2mm. 1867.4gm. Three stamps, reading "Dao Guang Shi Jiu Nien Wu Yue" (19th Year of Dao Guang) right, "Jing Xian" (Jing County) upper left, "Cheng Yi Sheng" (Smith: Cheng Yi Sheng), lower left, and engraved "Wu Yue" (May) lower right. An immense survivor of a type that is so rarely witnessed, with any issue of Anhui origin being considered a highlight and/or trophy of numismatic and historical collections. While the piece remains appreciable in appearance on the whole, we do note the repair to the highpoint of one wing and confirmed by Gong Bo's (03) assertion. Accompanied by a Gong Bo presentation box. Treasures from the W & L Collection HID09801242017 © 2023 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
