Description

ATTICA. Athens. Ca. 510/500-480 BC. AR tetradrachm (22mm, 17.08 gm, 5h). NGC Choice XF S 4/5 - 4/5. Head of Athena right, hair in straight braids along brow line, wearing crested Attic helmet, the crest box ornamented with chevron pattern, bowl decorated with single spiral / AΘΕ, owl standing right with closed wings, head facing; olive sprig with two leaves and berry behind, all within incuse square. HGC 4, 1590 (ca. 500/490-485/480 BC). Seltman Groups C, G and M. A tight flan with clear details and an adorable owl.
