Charles II gold 2 Guineas 1678/7 AU58+ NGC, KM443.1, S-3335. A highly respectable representation of this pleasing type distinguished by the strong traces of originality evident at every flick of the wrist. While not as scarce as its "Elephant and Castle" compatriot, this specimen remains spectacular and highly collectible. Only faint highpoint wear is evident to Charles's curls, which may be the result of some minor cabinet friction when considering the piece on its whole. Waves of amber-tinged brilliance oscillate throughout the protected regions, while the reverse faces up especially fine and certainly worth of consideration for a coveted star designation. Regardless, the offering stands near the precipice of the certified population, bested by four examples, and as such will inspire fervent bidding activity when crossing the auction block.
