Description

Trinidad & Tobago Canadian Bank of Commerce 100 Dollars 1.3.1921 Pick S113 PMG Very Fine 20. Trinidad & Tobago has long been a vital crossroads port, as it is a Caribbean country only a short distance from mainland Venezuela. In 1905, the Government of Trinidad & Tobago began issuance of $1 and $2 banknotes. The majority of higher denomination banknotes were issued by private banks and not by the government. This incredible $100 is the highest denomination issued by the Canadian Bank of Commerce's branch in Port of Spain. A small, three-digit serial number present on this note indicates how few were issued. It can be assumed that nearly all issued examples have been redeemed or exchanged for smaller denominations which were easier to manage in general circulation. The visual appeal of this offering is quite good for the assigned grade, and all details are visible. The manuscript signature of the bank General Manager is still visible despite some fading. One of only two issued notes currently graded by PMG, and a note missing from even the most exhaustive collections. Extremely appealing, especially to enthusiasts of British Commonwealth notes, Caribbean notes, and Canadian Private Bank notes. HID09801242017 © 2022 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
