Serial Number 100 Bahamas Bahamas Government 50 Dollars 1965 Pick 24a PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ. A lovely, well preserved example of this high denomination note from the Bahamas that is further enhanced by fancy serial number A000100. This delicately printed piece was part of the first issue of dollar denominated notes after the passage of the Currency Note Act of 1965, which changed the currency from sterling to dollars. At the exchange rate established in the act, the $50 and $100 denominations were far larger than anything issued in the Bahamas during the sterling period and, consequently, saw limited use. One of the hardest to find Bahamian notes for collectors to locate, but exceptionally difficult with a fancy serial number. HID09801242017 © 2022 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
