Description

Vespasian (AD 69-79). AR denarius (17mm, 3.29 gm, 6h). NGC Choice VF 4/5 - 2/5. Lugdunum, AD 71. IMP CAESAR VESPASIANVS AVG TR P, laureate head of Vespasian right / IVDAEA-DEVICTA, Judaea standing left, head slightly bowed, in mourning, hands bound together in front; palm tree to right. GBC 6, 6518. GBC 5, 1488. RIC II.1 1120. Attractive and high grade example of this historically important and desired series. From the MAP Collection This series was minted as part of the Judaea Capta Series, commemorating the victory of the Rome in the Jewish War, and more specifically that the success happened under the command of Vespasian and his children.
