George III gold Guinea 1776 MS61 NGC, KM604, Fr-355, S-3728. Fourth issue. Hints of bronze around the peripheries, accentuating the lush gold that fills the fields and devices. Some evidence of die rust and friction limit the grade, but this is a decidedly pleasing Mint State example. Popularly known as a "Rose Guinea" because of the shape of the shield on the reverse, this 1776 offering should draw attention from collectors of British and American Revolutionary material.
