Description

LYDIAN KINGDOM. Croesus (561-546 BC). AV third-stater or trite (9mm, 2.68 gm). NGC Choice Fine 4/5 - 2/5, scuffs, countermark. Sardes, "light" standard, ca. 553-539 BC. Confronted foreparts of lion right and bull left, both with outstretched foreleg / Two incuse square punches of unequal size, side by side, with irregular interior surfaces. Berk 9.6. SNG von Aulock 8212. This specimen features a vibrant rose gold toning throughout.
