Description

Victoria gold "Shield" Sovereign 1887-M AU55 NGC, Melbourne mint, KM6, S-3854A, Marsh-68 (R3). A key date and an absolute must-have for the devoted Melbourne shield Sovereign collector, often the last missing piece from a 1880s date run. Difficult to obtain in collectable grade such as the offering at hand, showcasing appreciable struck details on Victoria's hair and on the lions of the shield, and with delicate remains of original mint luster touching the obverse registers. From the Mac and Rob Woodside Collection
