Description

George IV Proof Crown 1826 PR65 PCGS, KM699, S-3806, ESC-2336 (R). SEPTIMO edge. A jaw-dropping representative of George IV's 1826 Crown, struck only in Proof and to a miniscule mintage of 150 pieces. The enviable state of Gem preservation displayed by the piece at hand catapults this offering's desirability beyond conditional requisites. As-struck devices project into the viewer's space, succumbing to the magnificent shades of amber, cobalt, and magenta that consume the flan. Out of 139 examples graded across PCGS and NGC, only two rank higher than the current specimen, a harbinger of competitive bidding that is to come.
