Japan Bank of Japan 1000 Yen ND (1945) Pick 45a PMG Choice Uncirculated 63. A visually appealing high denomination, this note is from the short-lived 1945 Post-Surrender Issue. Introduced on August 17, 1945, just days after Japan's surrender during World War II, this series only circulated for a brief time before being withdrawn on February 3, 1946. This larger sized note features the portrait of legendary prince, Yamato Takeru, along with a beautiful vignette of the Takebe Shrine in Otsu, Shiga.
