Description

Victoria gold "Shield" Sovereign 1874 AU50 NGC, KM752, S-3853B, Marsh-58 (R4). Die #32. A tempting representative of the final date of this shield and die number type, instantly recognizable as a rarity to collectors of British milled Sovereigns. A neat and intrepid strike is preserved on the reverse, tempered by some bagmarks and light rub on the obverse that are standard for the series. The planchet has mellowed into a champagne-gold with rosy tones, its unimpeded luster leaving nothing to be desired, making the offering at hand a clear candidate for placement in an advanced cabinet.
