Israel Bank of Israel Pair of Progressive Proof Sets in Original Archival Holders Crisp Uncirculated. A lovely pair of 10 Lirot progressive proof sets from the early stages of production. Both examples are dated 30.11.1961 which gives us a timeframe of when these were produced. The first set, labeled se019678/6 contains a group of four progressive proofs with a variety of partial printings. The second set, labeled se019071/9 contains a progressive proof with a front partial printing of the underprint only and complete back print and a proof with a complete printing of the front and back. These were used to document internal production issues such as color, press settings, paper issues and the like. They are, not surprisingly, quite rare with around five sets of 5 Lirot and five sets of 10 Lirot Progressive Proofs known at present. Both sets serve as plate illustrations on pages 153-157 and 159-161 of the 2022 Dvir book. A unique addition to any proof collection. The Raphael Dvir Paper Money of Israel Collection
