Description

James II Crown 1687 MS62 NGC, KM463, S-3407, ESC-743. TERTIO edge. An elusive near-choice survivor from the short-lived reign of James II, struck the year prior to the Glorious Revolution that would overthrow the monarch in 1688. Showcasing a soft pewter patination that uniformly graces the surfaces, tempered by a champagne underglow, James's portrait typically shallowly engraved yet well-preserved, with highly crisp reverse detail showing only extremely isolated weakness in the crown surmounting the French shield. Absent any meaningful handling, with scattered traces of iridescence occurring to both the obverse and reverse.
