Trajan (AD 98-117). AV aureus (20mm, 7.23 gm, 7h). NGC AU S 5/5 - 5/5. Rome, AD 112-113. IMP TRAIANO AVG GER DAC P M TR P COS VI P P, laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Trajan right, seen from behind / FORVM TRAIAN, frontal view of Trajan's Forum, with six columns, four of which are extended to the roof, entrance in center, four niches containing statues between columns five shields above niches and entrance, roof surmounted by facing quadriga in center with two figures in cart, flanked by pair of figures on either side with trophy between them. RIC II 255 var. (laureate head right). Calicó 1030. Solidly struck on brilliantly lustrous surfaces. A magnificent example of this highly popular architectural type. A representation of Trajan's famous marketplace, raised with the spoils of his Dacian conquest.
