Charioteer driving slow quadriga right, kentron in right hand, reins in both; Nike flying left above, crowning charioteer with open wreath / ΣYPAK-OΣ-I-ON, head of Arethusa right, hair bound with long taenia and sphendone, wearing double-spiral earring and plain necklace with lion-headed ornament; four dolphins swimming around. HGC 2, 1323. Boehringer 723. SNG ANS 245. The head of Arethusa on this issue has been convincingly compared with that of a statue of Aphrodite by Phidias, as well as the sculptures of the Parthenon.
