Description

Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel. Friedrich Ulrich "Death of Heinrich Julius" Taler 1613-(o) AU55 NGC, Zellerfeld mint, KM46, Dav-6298B, Knyphausen-201, Welter-646. Variety with JULII spelling, and evidence of reworked of 24 from 20. A pleasing early Death Taler from the Duchy, still maintaining a somewhat bright, natural finish, with minor hairlines and slight wear limiting the grade. Though a small edge flaw occurs 10 o'clock, the quality both of the execution and the metal itself appears quite excellent, attested to by a general absence of striking weakness or unevenness. Ex. Johann Max Böttcher Collection (Harald Möller Auction 47, November 2007, Lot 217) From the Cape Coral Collection of German Coins, Part I
