Description

Brunswick-Lüneburg-Calenberg-Hannover. Georg Taler 1640-HS AU55 NGC, Zellerfeld mint, KM22.2, Dav-6508, Welter-1454. Variety with small trees to right and left on obverse. A rather handsome cabinet piece from Brunswick's iconic Wildman series, fielding an even gunmetal patina over a champagne-golden backlight. Notably difficult to find with full detail expressed over the Wildman's face--usually one of the first areas to wear smooth. For the sake of accuracy we note a few small scratches in the crook of the Wildman's left arm. From the Cape Coral Collection of German Coins, Part I
