Description

Bavaria. Ludwig I "Royal Family" Taler 1828 MS66 NGC, Munich mint, KM734, Dav-563, AKS-121, Thun-56. Commemorating the blessings of heaven on the royal family. Commonly known as the Segen des Himmels ("Blessings of Heaven") Taler, this iconic commemorative of Ludwig I has long been one of his most popular, inspiring the equally famed Family Rouble of his contemporary, Nicholas I of Russia. Representing very near the peak of technical quality for the type (NGC records a single MS67 finer), we have only ever offered a single other representative in comparable condition, from the D. Moore Collection, which brought $3642 in January 2017. Ex. Johann Max Böttcher Collection (Harald Möller Auction 42, November-December 2006, Lot 241) From the Cape Coral Collection of German Coins, Part I
