Anhalt-Bernburg. Alexander Carl Taler 1862-A MS66 NGC, Berlin mint, KM88, Dav-506, Thun-6. Mintage: 20,000. Far from "normal" in any sense of the word for this most prolific of only 2 dates celebrating the blessings of Anhalt's mining industry. A full two points above the next finest at NGC, it is hard not to be captivated by the coin's obverse--a sunset center framed by cobalt and violet accenting tone along the margins. Easily an offering one could see with an added "plus." From the collector: One of my favorite coins, I bought this piece from a German dealer during a private treaty sale in 2013.
