Taiwan. Republic silver "Chiang Kai-shek" Medal Year 26 (1937) AU58 PCGS, L&M-968, WS-0127 var. (only listed in copper). 33mm. A notoriously challenging medal in all states of preservation, with this being the first representative we have offered in silver. Exceeded by just 3 examples at PCGS, the offering has toned to a deep argent with hints of indigo emerging when viewed at a tilt under good light. Interestingly, this type very closely copies the portrait used on the 1936 Medallic Dollars produced by the Shanghai mint (cf. Kann-694 and 694x, Shi Jiagan Collection-657) in commemoration of the promulgation of the Constitution. We would note that while Wang Chun Li lists this medal only in copper, the example he plates appears to be in silver. From the Glorium Collection
