Hong Kong Hongkong & Shanghai Banking Corp. 50 Dollars 1.10.1930 Pick 175d PMG Choice Fine 15. An outstanding large format, middle denomination "Duress Note" retaining all original features. Bradbury, Wilkinson & Company prepared this banknote in the early 1930s, and sent the type to Kong Kong without a signature at left. Higher denomination HSBC notes were hand-signed at left before issue. When the Japanese invaded Hong Kong in 1941, their army forced HSBC officials to release $50, $100, and $500 banknotes. This offered note falls within the known serial number range for "Duress" Notes: B350,001 to 550,000 for dates from 1930 to 1934.
