MACEDONIAN KINGDOM. Alexander III the Great (336-323 BC). AR drachm (19mm, 11h). NGC XF. Early posthumous issue of Sardes(?), ca. 323-319 BC. Head of Heracles right, wearing lion skin headdress, paws tied before neck / AΛEΞANΔPOY, Zeus seated left on backless throne, right leg drawn back, feet on ground line, eagle in right hand, scepter in left; bee right seen from above in left field, M below throne. Price -. Price does not list a bee issue with an M under the throne for any mint. Although several mints used the bee symbol, based on the style of the obverse portrait, along with the linear border on the obverse and the ground line on the reverse, it most closely matches issues from Sardes.
