Philip II 1/2 Real ND (1568-1570)-RP VF Details (Holed) NGC, Lima mint, KM3, Cal-115, Grunthal/Sellschopp-7 (this coin). 1.32gm. Alonso de Rincón as assayer. A fleeting and scarce issue, holed near 6 o'clock. Highly coveted as belonging to the first series of emissions from the Lima mint, and thus some of the earliest coinage produced in the New World. Interestingly, although Grunthal and Sellschopp state that this coin was sold by Henry Christensen in December 1967 as lot 1068, we have been unable to locate the coin in that catalog.
