Charles IV gold 2 Escudos 1791 PTS-PR VF35 NGC, Potosi mint, KM75, Cal-1362 (this coin), Cay-14170, Asbun-Karmy-C1284. Laureate bust type. A highly important coin for the Spanish Colonial collector and more specifically the Bolivian specialist, as confirmed by its status as a Calico plate coin. This single-year bust type features the noble portrait of Charles IV with a laureate crown, and while fairly easy to acquire in silver and even 8 Escudos denominations, these gold minors are exceedingly scarce. With an example of this type altogether missing from the advanced collections of Eliasberg and Norweb, and having come to public auction only once in the recent decades, we anticipate an elevated bidder enthusiasm consistent with these facts.
