Philip IV Counterstamped 7-1/2 Reales ND (1652) XF45 NGC, Potosi mint, KM-C19.22, Mastalir-Unl. (Lba or Lbb and P2u). 26.68gm. Host: Bolivia Philip IV Cob 8 Reales ND (cf. Cal-Type 327). Counterstamp: Crowned L (VF Weak). Displaying two different countermarks dating to the Potosi scandal, strongly applied to the point of cracking the flan. Notably, we have been unable to locate a match for this coin in Mastalir, who, while he records several specimens with two crowned L counterstamps or with two script P counterstamps, does not seem to have been aware of a coin with both P and L stamps.
