Philip IV Cob 8 Reales 1652 P-E AU50 NGC, Potosi mint, KM-A20.8, Cal-1500, Asbun-Karmy-C229 (RR). 25.21gm. "I.PH.6, E-52-P" variety. A prime survivor of this popular transitional type, which usually is encountered very corroded due to the great majority originating from the La Capitana shipwreck (sunk in 1654 off Chanduy, Ecuador). Presenting boldly rendered devices, with two dates and most of the features clear despite the double strike, this large-flan example will likely attract the attention of transitional Cob collectors.
