Charles VI (1380-1422) gold Ecu d'Or a la couronne ND (from 1389) MS63 NGC, Tournai mint (pellet beneath 16th letter), Fr-291, Ciani-487, Dup-369B. 3.94gm. 3rd Emission (from 11 September 1389). +KAROLVS: DЄI: GRACIA: FRAnCORVM: RЄX (double saltire stops), crowned arms of France / + XPC • VIИCIT • XPC • RЄGИAT • XPC • IMPЄRΛT (mullet stops), cross fleurée, a star in the center; all within a quadrilobe with lis at points and crowns in spandrels. Unusually high-grade for the issue, a remarkably full strike leaving the legends deeply impressed, whereas so many survivors suffer from uneven expression of the details. Certainly an outlier among Charles' Ecu d'Or, and one of the nicest we have seen.
