Anglo-Gallic. Henry VI (1422-1461) gold Salut d'Or ND (1423-1435) AU (Brushed), Amiens mint, Paschal Lamb mm, Fr-301, Dup-443, S-8164, Elias-265a (RRRR), W&F-380. 28mm. 3.47gm. (paschal lamb) hЄ'RICVS: DЄI: GRA: FRACORVm: Z: AGLIЄ: RЄX (double saltire stops), Virgin Mary (on left) and Archangel Gabriel (on right) standing behind the shields of France and England, respectively, scroll with AVЄ (written upwards) in between, rays above / (paschal lamb) XPC • VIИCIT • XPC • RЄGИAT • XPC • IИPЄRAT (rosette stops), Latin cross within tressure, lis to left, lion to right, h below. A coin which, before its noted brushing, must have been of absolutely exquisite quality for this already rather challenging mint. Indeed, in addition to its noticeably full flan, the specimen contains razor-sharp detail and a nearly full reverse engraver's guide dividing the planchet into sections to aid in the laying out of the designs. We note that NGC has deemed this piece to have an altered surface, and has thus labeled it ineligible for certification.
