Description

Charles III gold 4 Escudos 1788 M-M MS63 NGC, Madrid mint, KM418.1a, Cal-1795. The final year of issue for Charles III, with Madrid-minted specimens almost never encountered finer than AU and the majority of examples limited by extensive use in circulation. Of encapsulated examples at NGC, only 10% populate Mint State designations, and only two rank more highly as MS64s. Absolute in its brilliance as cartwheel luster cascades across lemon-gold devices while the reverse faces up much finer than the assigned grade would indicate.
