Description

Juliana Proof Trial 25 Cents 1950 PR67+ NGC, KM183. "PROEF" in truncation variety. A thoroughly rare type of which we have yet to handle. In fact, this is the first example of this variety the grading services have encountered as well, and while we have located Proofs, they lack "PROEF"; only a handful of smaller denominations have appeared at auction in recent decades. While the Standard Catalog of World Coins lists these coins as Proofs under the circulation issues, we note "PROEF" in Dutch refers to a trial strike. The piece itself displays exceedingly attractive, uniform surfaces largely devoid of imperfection, exhibits simple yet successful composition lending to a superior visual character.
