Description

Oliver Cromwell Shilling 1658 VF35 NGC, KM-A207, S-3228. Grained edge. Designed by Thomas Simon. Draped in steel tone, with a lightening atop the devices occurring from circulation wear. A sought-after type, struck in limited numbers very near the end of the Commonwealth era, when Cromwell ruled like a king but refused to be so called. Most pieces were destroyed during the Restoration of the Monarchy beginning in 1660.
