Description

Saxe-Altenburg. Johann Philip & Three Brothers Taler 1625-WA MS65 NGC, KM320, Dav-7371A. A superior example of this "family" Taler featuring the armored bust of Johann Philip to the obverse with his three brothers Friedrich, Johann Wilhelm, and Friedrich Wilhelm II to the reverse. Exquisitely detailed, excepting isolated areas of softness that one would expect from a 17th-century Taler issue, with generous mint luster decorating the surfaces amidst inspiring colorful iridescence trending toward lilac, fuchsia, and blue-green. Unlikely to be found finer, and currently the highest certified representative of its broader type at NGC.
