Description

MACEDON. Acanthus. Ca. 470-430 BC. AR tetradrachm (27mm, 17.19 gm, 8h). NGC Choice AU 5/5 - 3/5, Fine Style, marks. Lion springing right, tail downward, biting into hind quarters of bull kneeling to left with head raised; tunny fish left in exergue, thick beaded border / ΑΚΑ-Ν-ΘΙΟ-Ν, legend in relief on incuse band, around raised quadripartite square with lightly stippled surfaces, all within shallow incuse square.
