Yunnan. Kuang-hsü Dollar ND (1908) MS64 PCGS, Kunming mint, KM-Y254, L&M-418, Kann-166a, Chang-CH148, WS-0659 (1907), Wenchao-831 (rarity 1 star; 1907). Simply incredible and an issue almost never encountered in Mint State designations, let alone approaching gem levels of preservation. This highly collectible piece of Yunnan has risen substantially in popularity in recent years and remains a force within the Dragon Dollar series as a whole, always inspiring fervent bids from type collectors. The specimen at hand remains a most spectacular rendition imbued with wholly satiny, pearl-gray appearances embellished by an omnipresent mint bloom traversing prominently displayed devices with minimal effort. Largely free of tone apart from the occasional and subtle peripheral patina and admitting only a paucity of distracting marks to limit the piece from even loftier grades. As the sole finest example out of nearly 1,300 of this type submitted to both major grading services, we cannot predict the heights at which this coin will soar but wait with baited breath.
