Description

Chihli. Kuang-hsü Dollar Year 26 (1900) UNC Details (Repaired) PCGS, Pei Yang Arsenal mint, KM-Y73, L&M-459, Kann-201, Chang-CH13, WS-0629. The most coveted date of this extremely popular series, produced just on the eve of the Boxer Rebellion, during which the mint at Pei Yang was ultimately destroyed. Despite a small repairing of the reverse (obverse as holdered) field just before the word PEI--likely to smooth out a spot of damage or a planchet flaw--the piece otherwise remains extremely fresh, a fully original cartwheel finish washing over the obverse. Only the second representative we have handled in fully uncirculated condition, we would note that of the 423 specimens yet seen by PCGS, only 9 have been awarded with Mint State status.
