Republic gold Counterstamped Escudo ND (1849-1857) AU55 NGC, San Jose mint, KM84, Stickney-C431. Displaying Type VII round lion counterstamp with legend HABILITADA PO EL GOBIERNO (AU Strong) on the obverse and reverse of a Central American Republic Escudo 1849 CR-JB (cf. KM14). Exceptionally brilliant, the host coin bordering on uncirculated and the lion stamp produced with a greater clarity than is often seen for the issue. Mislabeled on the holder as a Type VI countermark.
