Cundinamarca 8 Reales 1821 BA-JF MS61 NGC, Bogota mint, KM-C6, WR-7, Elizondo-18, Restrepo-157.4. Any collector familiar with the Cundinamarca series will be intimately familiar with the conditional rarity of those issues. The norm for this type, including the current date, is moderate to heavy circulation, and many survivors display weak and uneven strikes. This offering stands out by virtue of its relatively complete strike and fully Mint State preservation, the devices remaining clearly outlined and set within fields containing glints of silvery luster. The representative remains one of only three examples recognized in uncirculated condition across both PCGS and NGC, and its prior inclusion in the Millennia Collection only speaks further to its exceptional quality. For reference, we encourage collectors to compare this example to one of these three aforementioned specimens, offered in our September 2019 Long Beach Expo Signature Auction (Auction 3076, Lot 31320). This identically certified (MS61) example, while also of high quality for the type, displayed significantly less definition. Accordingly, we are confident that interested collectors will recognize the singular nature of this attractive example and expect strong bidding activity on this lot. Ex.
