Tu Duc silver 10 Lang Bar ND (1848-1883) XF, KM-Unl., cf. Opitz-pg. 33 (for similar bar of Gia Long). 117x30mm. 369.34gm. Stamped on the face in two main sections, the top reading: "Si De Nian Zao" (Minted in the era of Tu Duc), and the bottom reading: "Jing Yin Shi Liang" (Fine Silver 10 Lang). Two characters stamped on the left side read: "Gong Jia" (Grade A), and two on the right read: "Zhong Ping" (indicating that the weight of silver has been verified by the government). The inscription "Shi Liang" (10 Lang) appears on the back. Seemingly quite rare, and the first such piece we have handled. While the Charles Opitz Collection contained a similar bar from the reign of Gia Long, an example from Tu Duc's reign was strikingly absent.
