Chihli. Kuang-hsü Dollar Year 34 (1908) MS66 NGC, Pei Yang Arsenal mint, KM-Y73.2, L&M-465A, Kann-208, WS-0643. Short central spine on tail variety. A stunning conditional survivor that stands among the finest examples of its type certified to date. The selection ties with only three others at NGC across over 1,600 examples between the L&M-465 and L&M-465A varieties. We note that, though labeled L&M-465 by NGC on the holder insert, this is in fact the short central spine variety (L&M-465A). From a visual standpoint, the surfaces are virtually immaculate, just a few scattered traces of die rust visible above the dragon's head, a tinge of golden tone acting as a border for waves of fresh mint luster that effortlessly cross the surfaces. Truly, this offering could hardly be meaningfully improved upon, and we can only expect fierce competition for such a resplendent selection of the issue.
